Distribution Centers

Retail distribution centers and warehouses are challenged by a unique set of requirements compared to some of the independent retail store locations. There are larger quantities of material than what is found at retail stores. This often puts the generator status to large quantity generator status, triggering more frequent services for waste removal.

In addition, because of the increase of forklift traffic there is often a higher volume of damaged goods from mishandling pallets. Spill equipment and waste from spill cleanup is increased compared to the retail store.

Typical waste streams:

  • Corrosives
  • Flammables
  • Toxics
  • Aerosols
  • Universal waste

The packaging of waste at the distribution center allows the use of larger containers. Cubic yard boxes, gaylords, totes and 55 gallon drums are common containers used to store and ship waste from the retail distribution center.

With the ever-changing regulations there are new opportunities to handle your waste in a different manner than the traditional waste disposal methods.

Retail Waste Management

If you’re a retailer you need a hazardous waste management program. In recent years, retail stores and distribution centers have been a major focus of State and Federal regulators on enforcing RCRA regulations. As a result they have issued fines to those who were found to be in violation of regulations for lacking or improperly managing hazardous waste.

Our highly trained and skilled staff have several years of experience in developing, implementing and managing hazardous waste programs and can offer your site a solution.  We focus on developing recycling, reuse and sustainable solutions for the materials first, then disposal options for items that can not be recycled.

We provide the following services:

  • Onsite waste service technician
  • Waste identification
  • Waste characterization
  • Waste segregation and packing
  • Prepared shipping documents, such as manifests and labels
  • Transportation to a disposal facility
  • Recording metrics per site locations so that you can track waste generation
  • Reporting to federal, state and corporate organizations
  • Recycling and reuse options
  • Out-of-the-box custom program that are customer specific
